​North West Governor Rates Phase II of MINTP/MIDENO Road Works at 66% Realization!

The Governor of the North West Region, Chairman Follow Up Committee has conducted a comprehensive assessment of progress in the execution Phase II of the Ministry of Public Works (MINTP)/North West Development Authority (MIDENO) Partnership Agreement on the  Rehabilitation/Maintenance of 41km of earth roads linking Bamboutous Division in the West and Mezam Division in the North West Regions Cameroon. 

The Governor and entourage visited the stretch of roads under maintenance from Galim through Bamenyam to Awing and back after which he rated the work done soo far at 66%.

“This is actually my first time here since phase II of the Project started and I’m very impressed with the work done so far. I would like to express on behalf of MIDENO where I am Board Chair my most sincere gratitude to the Minister of Public Works for this great project which is already impacting the communities significantly. We pray that more of such development projects be implemented by MINTP in the Northwest and neighbouring West Region”

The Divisional Officer of Galim who accompanied the Governor to the field expressed satisfaction for having such a huge project underway in his area of jurisdiction. He assured stakeholders of his support throughout the execution period and also proposed an alternative location where machines can be easily stored and retrieved by operators to ensure sucueity.

The Mayor of Galim on behalf of his community thanked the Minister of Public Works and the Management of MIDENO for choosing to implement the development project in his community. He is happy work is ongoing despite the numerous difficulties faced. He also hopes more culverts be installed in earmarked areas to ensure water does not overflow.

The Director General of MIDENO on his part appreciated the collaboration so far from the Delegation of Public Works at Bamboutous, Administrative and Local Authorities. He went further to assure stakeholders that MIDENO is highly committed to the project reason why funds are being mobilized to ensure that the Authority fulfills its own part of the Partnership.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Technical Department of MIDENO in giving an overview of the entire project and commitments of each partner emphasized that MIDENO is not a for- profit organisation but an operational arm of the state with a social mission. That is why MIDENO has made a huge contribution in the partnership in terms of the mobilisation of equipment and personnel . Despite, this, he said the contribution of MINTP is delayed and that this delay in payments has consequently delayed the execution of the project.

Addressing members of the Follow up Committee during the field visit, the Governor underscored Government’s commitment to investing in Infrastructure and Rural development to boost Economic growth and improve living standards of the communities. He emphasized that high standards of workmanship must be maintained in order to complete the Project within the stipulated timeframe. 





The round table meeting that followed supervision was an opportunity for the Governor to thank Administrative and Local Authorities, Security forces and the population of Bamboutous for their unwavering support to MIDENO as Project execution goes on.

Phase II of the Project aimed at the Rehabilitation/Maintenance of some 15 km of earth roads linking Bamboutous, West Region and Mezam North West Region is expected to improve transportation, infrastructure and enhance the overall quality of life of residents.

Note should be taken that the 1st Phase of the Project was executed last year on some 26 km roads linking Akum, Awing and ending at river Mewungne in Awing.
