SOGOC: Activities Ahead of 16 Days Activism Against GBV Launched in Yaounde!

​GBV: The Society of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians Cameroon (SOGOC) have officially launched activities ahead of the 2023 edition of 16 Days Activism Against Gender Based Violence (GBV)  By: Ruth Che Wachong  Speaking during the event Thursday in Yaounde, the President of SOGOC for the Center Region, Prof Essiben Felix underscored the urgent need to stop GBV, especially in Cameroon where it is common in almost all sectors.  “In Cameroon the prevalence of GBV is intricately linked with the sexual and reproductive health rights of women. Health: Cameroon receives 331,200 doses of antimalaria RTS,S vaccine ahead of December 23rd National Immunization program!

​The Government through the Ministry of public Health has received 331,200 doses of a vaccine that would protect children under five (5) years from malaria.  With about 70% malaria deaths in Cameroon and 32% in children below 5, the RTS,S vaccine would be inserted into the National Immunization program beginning December 23rd 2023.  Cameroon it should be noted is 4th among 3 other African countries where the vaccine has already been administered; Ghana, Kenya and Malawi. ​Anglophone crisis:  Ghost towns, lockdowns crumbling socio-economic activities in NW, SW. By Shing Timothy & Wanchia Cynthia    03 Nov 2023     Muea is a neighbourhood in Buea with the largest market where farmers sell their produce to the denizens of the town. The market days are Thursdays and Sundays, during which the area is bustling with life and traffic. On Mondays, the area becomes a shadow of itself with empty streets, military cars and silence.
