​Communities beckoned to facilitate reintegration of Ex fighters.


Calls for the reintegration of members of the Demobilization and Decentralization Center (DDR) Northwest has emerged as one of the major outcome from a peace and unity football encounter with Local Administrators in Bamenda.


These calls were made by different speakers during the event that held on February 10th 2022.

Speaking during the encounter, Hon Awunti Kejung, who doubles as Patron of the DDR and Economic Commissioner Northwest Regional Assembly beckoned on community members to give the Ex fighters an opportunity to showcase their talents, as a booster for reintegration. The honorable member of the North West Regional Assembly believes that employment and creation of small scale businesses for the Ex fighters shall be a booster for their gradual reintegration into the community.


 Also present during the encounter was coordinator for the Northwest DDR Center Mr Kum Henry Ichu who re-emphasized on the Patrons call for reintegration. According to him, the ex fighters should be applauded for making an effort towards their reintegration, despite being victims of the crises. He said the fighters have lots of talents in different fields and would do better if members of the community would heartily accommodate them through employment.



The unity match which ended in a 2-1 score in favour of the Ex fighters is an initiative of Administrators in the NWR as part of activities for the 56th National Youth Day, celebrated every  February 11.



 The event also witnessed the distribution of school bags to some pupils by the "NoBagPack" foundation.


 Non conventional sporting activities like tabala and dodging also characterised the event.
