Northwest Women called to continue clamoring for peace despite the twin crises in the Region.

Women of the Northwest Region have been called to remain steadfast in clamoring for peace and focused in achieving their goals despite the twin crises in the Region.

  The clarion call was made by Mme Wirba Jeroline in her speech during the celebration of the 37th International women's day in Bamenda, Northwest Region. 

  Reflecting on the theme " Equality between women and men today, for a sustainable tomorrow" , the womens representative said men and women need equal opportunities to exploit their potentials, in order to achieve meaningful sustainable Development in their communities and  country as a whole.

  She acknowledged that there are more women in decision making positions. Hence remarkable successes in the political, social and economic domains led by women.

  Mme Wirba Jeroline highlighted some major challenges women face which has slowed down their empowerment, amongst which are;  Gender based violence, security and global health challenges.


  The women Representative also made a call on all actors involved in the sociopolitical crises plaguing the Northwest and Southwest Regions to give peace a chance, for it is only through peace that we can achieve sustainable Development.

  The 37th International women's day celebrations in Bamenda featured the award of Attestation of Recognition to some 7 female laureates, excelling in different domains.
