Bafut Council Budgets 1.18 Billion CFA FRS for 2023

Denizens of Bafut locality in the Northwest Region shall in 2023 benefit from development projects worth 1.18 Billion CFA FRS.

Mayor Ngwakongoh Lawrence made this declaration Wednesday 8th December 2022 during the Councils 2023 Budgetary session.

According to Mayor Ngwakongoh, the opening of farm to Market roads, Rural Electrification, Opening and grading of rural and interquater roads, support to Internally Displaced and Vulnerable Persons in the Bafut Municipality, amongst others, constitute part of developement Projects under the Councils Investment Budget for 2023. Meanwhile the balance of 619.4 Million shall be used as Recurrent Expenditure for salaries and wages.

During the session, councilors and Administrative Authorities lauded the efforts of Mayor Ngwakongoh who in 2022 spearheaded the implementation of over 20 development projects in the Municipality such as; the construction of 2 classrooms at GS Swie, rehabilitation of GS Obang, construction of 4 meat sales slaps at Mforya,Asong, Ndung and Mbakong, support to vulnerable persons, construction of a farm to market bridge, rural electrification of Nchum, amongst others.


Mayor Ngwakongoh Lawrence also explained during the session that the 2023 Budget witnessed a 130.3 Million CFA FRS increase unlike in 2022,  thanks to Government's investment credit for 2023  which stands at 301.500.000CFA FRS.


The session that witnessed the presence of Administrative and traditional Athorities was an opportunity for the Divisional Officer for Bafut, Foukou Andelys to commend the Mayor and his collaborators for successfully implementing and previewing development oriented projects in the Bafut Municipality in 2022 and now 2023. He also used the session to beckon on Bafut sons and daughters to collaborate with the forces of law and order, so as to foster peace and unity in the municipality.
