Speaking in Bamenda Tuesday, the Steering Committee President for the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West Regions (PPRD) said the plan must be visible to primary beneficiaries and also to existing and future partners. Visibility of the plan according to Balungelu Confiance Ebune, will enhance implementation of projects in earmarked areas.

The rehabilitation and equipment of schools and Health centers, Installation of 8 solar powered water points, support to poultry farmers, women cooperatives are amongst the projects so far executed by the plan in the North West since its creation in 2020.

With instructions from the Prime Minister, Head of Government,  Chief Dr Dione Ngute, Confiance Ebune encouraged youths to be fully engaged in the plan as it is meant to improve livelihoods of victims of the armed conflict in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon.  He continued that implementation of the plan is based on accessibility and how affected an area is.

 Financed by the Government of Cameroon with support from the Islamic Development Bank, GICAM, SABC, amongst others, the Presidential plan recently received the sum of 2.8 Billion from the Japanese Government to facilitate the reconstruction of the two affected Regions.

With a 10 Billion CFA FRS start up budget, Implementation of the Presidential plan has been very effective in all seven Divisions of the North West Region for the past 2 years. These successes according to the President must be effectively communicated.

Notwithstanding the successes recorded in the past two years, the President also underscored a number of challenges faced by the team;

Inaccessibility of targeted areas due to bad roads, security concerns, overwhelming needs amongst others are some of the setbacks to the effective implementation of the plan in all affected areas.

The Governor of the North West Region, the City Mayor, Delegates, Directors and major stakeholders in the implementation of the plan were also present.
