Over 100 persons and 3 organizations of Persons Living with Disabilities (PWD) have received some 3000 high breed 3 weeks old table birds from the North West Development Authority, (MIDENO) .

According to the DG of MIDENO, Cletus Anye Matoyah, the gesture is intended to empower PWD’s through improved production and productivity in the livestock sector.

“I urge and encourage you all to make proper use of the birds you would receive, so as to ensure sustainable livelihoods for you and your families”

Cletus Anye Matoyah told farmers.

DG MIDENO, Cletus Anye Matoyah, addressing PWD’s

“It’s a great gesture from MIDENO and would create great impact in the livelihood of PWD’s. This will act as startup for those who were idle. Atleast this will help some of us venture into poultry farming which I can say is a very productive income generating activity with quick turnover”

Northwest Regional President for the Coordinating Unit of Associations of PWD’s, Nogning Armelle told the Press.

“I haven’t really had any sustainable job to do since my amputation years ago. I actually believe this initiative would help me to be fully engaged in poultry farming which I hear is very profitable”

Lawrence, an amputee told Upfront.

Speaking to the Press during the distribution exercise, the Service Provider, Alhadji Hamza Djibril assured beneficiaries of the quality of the birds. He added that the birds have been fully vaccinated and would be ready for consumption by mid May 2023.

It should be noted that Saturdays distribution exercise is just one among many other activities included in a North West Development Authority (MIDENO) - Socio Economic Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SEEPD) Partnership, aimed at improving lives of PWD’s in the Region.

Mr Cletus Anye Matoyah assured PWDs of MIDENO’s commitment to assist, accompany and provide them with basic needs. He continued that Brails, wheelchairs, tricycles, crutches, books, wheelbarrows, cutlasses, improved seeds among others shall characterize items for the next distribution exercise to take place in the days ahead.
