The DG lauded North West farmers for their resilience and commitment to their farms despite the challenges they face in the heart of the sociopolitical situation in the Region.

“We are all aware of the need to scale up production in order to mitigate the consequences of the present crises characterized by the abandonment of farms in the Rural areas, where the population has been displaced. The impact of the sociopolitical crisis especially on the farming population is unspeakable as most farmers still struggle to have food on their tables. The North west is very rich in agricultural production, hence MIDENO’s commitment to ensure farmers needs are met”

2023 Achievements:

- Empowerment of 750 Farmers through Farmers groups,

- Opening/rehabilitation of some 41.7km road linking Akum, Awing, Bamunyam and Ngalia,

- Distribution of 7.9 tons of improved maize seeds,6 tons of potatoes seeds,

- Distribution of farm inputs worth 25Million CFA FRS to farmers in the North West Region,

- 17 Staff were awarded with 27 Labour Medals in May 2023, and a systematic payment of terminal benefits to retired Staff initiated and put in place.

Director, Administration and Finance MIDENO

According to the Director of Finance, MIDENO still recorded a 75% Realization in income, despite the insufficient 550Million CFA FRS received as 2023 Functioning Subvention.

Challenges:

According to the Management of MIDENO, the amount usually allocated by Government as Subvention for the Authority is insufficient. The late disbursement of functioning Subventions remains a big challenge as the delay usually affects farm activities which are time sensitive.

Management used the Presser to urge Government to increase Subventions allocated to MIDENO and to equally ensure timely disbursement.

Press Conferences in MIDENO it should be noted, have become regular since Cletus Anye Matoyah was appointed at the helm of MIDENO five years now.
